Data security programs hit a people ceiling. BigID is selling the agent that removes it — if the agent is real.

On September 21 BigID launched AgentIQ, described as a fully agentic automation interface to BigID that lets customers operate data security and compliance programs from a prompt or agent interface — inside BigID or directly from Claude, Copilot, GPT, or Gemini (PR Newswire). Customers can write custom prompts or use pre-built BigID agents to retrieve, report, respond, or remediate data and AI security and compliance violations. Valuation: Undisclosed in the launch release. Prior funding lore does not set a mark.

The product argument is operational, not category theater. Per BigID: ask about the data or AI landscape across cloud, SaaS, on-prem, databases, and files; investigate access violations; consult a model of choice on frameworks and compliance; assess risk by sensitivity, exposure, activity, and business context; then act — revoke access, remediate exposure, apply retention, quarantine, enforce policy, fulfill requests. Automate remediation continuously with BigID agents or bring-your-own agents.

Distribution is the sharper claim. AgentIQ is available inside BigID, but BigID also positions it where teams already work: Claude, GPT, Gemini, Copilot, custom enterprise agents, and internal AI platforms — “no new interface to adopt and no security analyst required to run a query” (company). Buy/Build/Bring framing: buy BigID’s agents; build on AgentIQ’s platform and action surface; or bring agents from popular AI platforms to work with BigID via BigID’s secure MCP.

Guardrails BigID lists: agents inherit the requesting user’s permissions, enforced at the API and MCP layer rather than in a system prompt; every agent action is logged and attributable to a person; enterprise controls including password vaulting, BYOK, telemetry, and air-gap support; no lock-in to one vendor’s agent, one model, or one interface. Integration span: 200+ integrations across on-prem, cloud, SaaS, and API data sources — data at rest, in motion, and in use (company).

CEO and co-founder Dimitri Sirota, via the PR: “Every data & AI program is capped by how many people you can put on it. AgentIQ removes the cap… The reason it works on BigID is context. An agent without deep data context will give you confident, wrong answers about your most sensitive data.” Head of Product and co-founder Nimrod Vax: customers do not want another console or a single-model bet — BigID built “the layer, not the destination.”

POV: Every DSPM vendor will ship an agents slide this cycle. The underwrite is narrower — does AgentIQ change who runs privacy requests, public-exposure remediations, and shadow-AI mapping without a console jockey, or does it become chat on top of the same inventory? Buyers should ask where permissions are enforced (API/MCP vs prompt), what gets logged, and whether MCP-bridged Copilot/Claude agents survive audit. Launch is real (PR Newswire Sep 21). Valuation stays Undisclosed. Sources: BigID / PR Newswire Sep 21 and bigid.com/agentiq.
