Cylake just printed a large check without printing a price. On September 8 the company said it raised $245 million through a convertible note with participation from Lightspeed Venture Partners, Picture Capital, and Redpoint Ventures. Company primary puts total capital raised at $290 million after a $45 million Greylock-led seed in March 2026. No valuation appears on the announcement.
The thesis is operational sovereignty. Cylake is building an AI-native, fully sovereign cybersecurity platform meant to run on-prem or in private cloud — with no public-cloud dependency — for highly regulated commercial and government buyers. Capital is earmarked for continued product development and team growth. Design partners are already in the room; beta is expected by end of 2026, general availability in 2027.
Board math follows the money. Ravi Mhatre of Lightspeed joins the Board; Rakesh Loonkar of Picture Capital joins as Board Observer. Co-founders are Nir Zuk, Wilson Xu, and Ehud (Udi) Shamir. Headcount is above 40 with hiring still open across engineering and product. That is a seed-to-note arc measured in months, not years — and a bet that regulated institutions will pay for control when SaaS-era architectures do not fit their constraints.
The sourced facts: $245 million note, named participants, $290 million total raised, Greylock seed context, a sovereignty product claim, beta/GA timing, and a blank valuation. Capital without a mark is still a signal. It is not a completed argument.
