IBM just bought a UK Defence / CNI cyber consultancy with an NCSC assurance badge and a sovereign collab platform. That is a sovereignty-and-services tuck-in — not a product-unicorn print. Price: Undisclosed.

On September 24, 2026, IBM’s newsroom said IBM UK acquired Logiq Consulting, an NCSC-assured UK cybersecurity consultancy with deep expertise in the UK Defence Industry, UK Critical National Infrastructure, and the wider Public Sector. Capabilities named in the primary: cyber assurance, Secure by Design, secure systems engineering, digital transformation, and secure managed services. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.

What attaches to the IBM wallet. Logiq extends IBM’s cybersecurity transformation portfolio and adds complementary capabilities to SiXworks (an IBM Company) digital transformation work in Defence and the Public Sector. The release frames the deal as advancing IBM’s broader hybrid cloud, AI, and digital sovereignty agenda — helping UK clients keep control over critical data and technology environments while adopting AI securely.

DISX® is the product-shaped asset. Logiq developed and operates DISX®, a managed sovereign collaboration platform that lets government suppliers exchange sensitive information with UK Government and Defence while controlling where and how that information is managed. That is the clearest non-services asset in the release — a controlled collab rail, not a marketplace SIEM.

Quotes that set the frame. Rhodri Arrowsmith, Managing Partner for IBM Consulting UK & Ireland: cybersecurity, governance, and resilience are critical as organizations accelerate transformation and adopt AI at scale; Logiq brings specialised Secure by Design and cybersecurity assurance that complements IBM’s capabilities in the UK’s most security-conscious sectors. Mark Hughes, Global Managing Partner for IBM Consulting Cybersecurity Services: the acquisition strengthens IBM’s ability to help clients manage risk, protect critical services, and navigate a complex threat landscape. James Morgan, CEO of Logiq: expertise in Defence and CNI plus IBM’s global scale, AI, and hybrid cloud will deliver greater value and strengthen resilience of critical systems — IBM shares the commitment to innovation and customer success.

Secondary context — still Undisclosed. Phoenix (private equity) announced the sale of Logiq to IBM the same day; terms remain undisclosed. Hogan Lovells advised IBM (per secondary coverage). Headcount, revenue, and purchase price: Undisclosed.

POV. This is a GSI sovereign-cyber land-grab. Regulated UK wallets reward NCSC assurance, Secure by Design fluency, and local delivery — not another generic SOC slide. Boards should ask whether DISX and Secure by Design attach into the IBM Consulting wallet as repeatable offerings across Defence / CNI / public sector — or stay a niche UK services bolt-on beside SiXworks. Undisclosed price means you underwrite strategic fit and referenceability, not a multiple. Scale: Undisclosed.
